COBRAE directs its attention to the following four areas:
External concrete reinforcing with
Carbon fibre strips
Composite bridge decks

Internal concrete reinforcing with
composite rebar in concrete structures
All composite structural applications
Civil Engineers are known to test the limits of building structures, by going higher, longer or lighter. On the other hand Civil Engineers are by definition very conservative.
